SJCPHS has played an important role in contributing to Silverton's community and working to reopen the Silverton Youth Center (YC) in 1999. Financial support has been received through numerous sources, including a Colorado Action for Healthy People grant, part of the Silverton Community Learning Center grant, an award from the Persistent Drunk Driving Fund with the Alcohol Drug Abuse Division (ADAD) and Caring for Colorado.
As the funding from the Silverton Community Learning Center ended May 31, 2004, the SJCPHS & the Silverton School are working to continue the YC program. Other means to secure funds for the YC operating costs will be raised through fundraisers and community donations of space, money, and supplies.
An annual youth membership to the YC began Monday, August 23, 2004. A $20 fee will assist with the YC's operating costs for items such as new board and video games, music, movies, maintenance & sundries and is a requirement for us to receive dollars from one of our funding sponsors.
If you are interested in sponsoring a youth’s YC membership or would like to contribute to our phone fund (as no grant funds cover this item), please mail your donation to the address below. Or, if you desire any further information, please contact us the SJCPHS’ office @ 970.387.0242. Or, drop by & see us at the Silverton YC. Visitors are Always Welcome! Our Kids Thank You for Your Support!
